An immersive musical journey up the Hokika River. The performance blends visual object theater with warm African rhythms and accompanies the release of Wimbo Simba’s new album.
A captivating adventure where colorful felt carpets, African rhythms, and Caribbean warmth bring stories to life! The performance follows two siblings who rediscover their childhood room and the dusty rugs that once served as the canvas for their wildest dreams.
As each carpet unfurls, the stage transforms into a flowing river, and fabrics become costumes for a magical quest. Along the way, children will meet wonderful animals and friends as they explore the values of community, cooperation, and embracing differences. Combining visual object theater with live electric guitar and mandolin, this multi-sensory experience encourages families to connect with nature and the power of play.
This performance accompanies the release of Wimbo Simba’s new album.
Wimbo Simba was founded in 2018 by Shiran Bitton Fadida and Roee Fadida. The band plays original songs in Hebrew, rich with storytelling and imagination, depicting experiences of connection to nature, magic, and simplicity. Shiran writes the lyrics with her partner, award-winning poet Yaakov Bitton. The ensemble’s music is full of warmth and joy, created to provide an enriching experience for the whole family while emphasizing multiculturalism; as such, the band’s main influences are from Africa and the Caribbean. Our goal is to create music full of unique rhythms to deepen and “challenge” the audience with melodies that are not typical to our region.
