A powerful and passionate dance performance that brings the spirit of the African Hebrew Israelite community to the stage – a deep connection to the land, to the inner rhythm of life, and to collective unity.
Solidarity is a dance born from necessity; the story of a people whose future is carried by their unity.
It speaks of solidarity in all its forms:
within the self, between man and woman,
between the young and the old.
A shared breath, a shared ground, a shared fate.
The work was created in the shadow of October 7 — a moment of national rupture and grief, yet also one that revealed the quiet, unbreakable strength of people standing together.
Through movement, we chose to speak.
To mourn and to remember. To fight for our fallen soldiers, Elishai and Toveet, for the many others lost, and for those still waiting to come home.
As artists, this was our response:
creating from within the land we love, rooted in pain, lifted by hope.
This is our home. We are here to stay. Bound by solidarity, we will do whatever it takes to protect it.
The Light Dance Company, founded amid the COVID-19 pandemic, began with three dedicated dancers who trained in professional academies across Israel. After gaining experience and refining their craft, they returned to their community to join a close-knit group that had already been dancing together within the school system for years. United by shared history and passion, the group chose to grow together, deepening their skills over time, especially as two of the founding dancers pursued professional careers. Bringing back advanced techniques and knowledge, they elevated the company’s artistic level, transforming it into a stronger, more refined ensemble committed to growth, unity, and creative expression.
