Maya Popova is a choreographer, performer, and movement educator whose life has been shaped by dance from an early age. Trained in classical ballet and choreography in Russia, she later expanded her artistic language through contemporary dance, performing and presenting work on international stages across USA, Europe and Israel.
After moving to Israel in 2015, Maya continued to develop her voice as an independent artist, creating works that combine physicality, imagination, and emotional depth.
The inspiration for “Beyond the Screen” came from a personal place. As a mother, Maya became fascinated by the worlds that captivate today’s children and teenagers—their games, imagination, and sense of adventure. Wanting to create a meaningful theatrical experience for young audiences, she brought together contemporary dance, breakdance, acrobatics, humor, and storytelling to create a stage adventure that speaks their language while celebrating the power of imagination.
