Radio-Choreography: Echoes of Dissent is a multimedia project that combines an 8-channel sound installation, dance, and a live radio performance.
The project explores new ways of translating dance into sound, the radio as a public space, and the political and performative dimensions of collective listening.
A multichannel sound installation features a sonic choreography based on diary entries by the Austrian choreographer Hanna Berger. Born in Vienna in 1910, Berger studied dance in Berlin and, alongside her artistic work, was an anti-Nazi activist and a member of the Communist resistance. Her choreographic work and political activity were intertwined.
This immersive sound installation reactivates and revives the texts Berger wrote about her artistic work and life during the uprising of Nazi forces in Germany and World War II; among them is a choreographic score she wrote following her imprisonment in Berlin in 1942.
The Israeli premiere at the Suzanne Dellal Centre will be accompanied by a live broadcast from Radio HaMahuga. As part of the event, the works of choreographers Orly Portal and Annabelle Dvir — whose artistic practices present various forms of resistance — will be documented, recorded, and broadcast live.
The audience is invited to attend a live performance and transmission event, where they can listen together to gestures of resistance across times and spaces.
Echoes of Dissent is part of the artistic research project Radio-Choreography, which explores different ways of documenting dance through sound, as well as the relationship between live broadcasting and muted histories. Within the framework of the project, Netta Weiser, in collaboration with artists from various disciplines, is developing a radio archive of dance works created in contexts of migration and political resistance.

Netta Weiser is a Berlin-based artist and choreographer. Her work encompasses sound installation, performance, and experimental radio. In 2019, she founded “Radio-Choreography”, an artistic research project that explores alternative methods of dance documentation through sound. As part of this project, she explores how acts of listening create temporary communities and examines various ways to broadcast choreography on the radio. Her work has been presented at international art institutions and dance festivals, including Akademie der Künste Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien, KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin, Onassis Stegi Athens, WDR, Villa Medici Rome, CCA Glasgow, TONSPUR Micro Museum for Sound at the MQ Vienna, Tanznacht Berlin, Tanzmuseum Cologne, and Zwergelgarten Pavilion Salzburg. In 2024, she presented a solo exhibition at the Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe, Germany, and was an artist in residence at Artport, Tel Aviv. These days, she is a research fellow at the VALIE EXPORT CENTER Linz and broadcasts a monthly radio show on reboot.fm Berlin.
