Asaf Elkalai | Roundabout

The video presents a sequence of traffic circles across Israel, each centered around a different statue, sculpture, or monument. Using the roundabout as both form and motion, the work raises questions about nationality, aesthetic values and standards, public space, and public art, all within a revolving loop that echoes the process of its creation and the viewer’s experience, as a local site-specific tension between video and sculpture.
