We embarked on a journey through the land of fathers:

Father Aryeh was born in 1929 in Tel Aviv.

Father Zvi was born in 1929 in Magdiel.

Father Ido was born in 1939 in Tel Aviv.

Father Yitzhak was born in Morocco in 1945 and immigrated to Israel at the age of 3.

‘Four Mothers’ was an anti-war protest movement founded in 1997 that successfully led to the withdrawal of the IDF from Lebanon. In Four Fathers, a new stage project by a contemporary dance ensemble, four performers were asked to bring their four fathers into the creation through a process of recollection and imitation, disguise, and becoming.

Through a journey across the local landscape and in time, they conjure body language, words, voices, songs, images, and dreams: real, unique, and personal figures that are simultaneously metaphorical, representative, and public. These elements are woven into a complex fabric, rich with contradictions and mixed emotions — made of love for family and land, poetic desires, role-playing, war games, expectations, and disappointments.

The ensemble operates as part of the Mia Arbatova Association for Dance Arts
