Our lives transpire in between the edges of the universe, a playful game of dark corners and light centres. At birth there is differentiation, and death is a unity with the Infinite, missing home creates a movement, a movement back to the beginning, the one. Morni and Shira have been dancing Kathak professionally for the past decade, an ancient North Indian dance form known for its virtuosic rhythmic footwork, impressive turns and delicate hand work. Together they bring to the stage a unique language of diverse, culturally significant movement exploration in a unique show accompanied by live music.

Morni Gertner – Specialises for over a decade in Indian classical dance of the Lucknow Gharana style: Contemporary Kathak with an emphasis on the aesthetics of the body and movement in space. She is a graduate of the ICCR scholarship from the Embassy of India for studies at the “KADAMB” academy in Gujarat, under the guidance of Master Vaishali Trivadi. Today, Morni practices Kathak, Bollywood, and blends them with belly dance and authentic movement. Through prayer, breath, and heartfelt dancing, she creates a connection between the inner and outer self.

Shira Whitman – Has devoted herself to Indian classical dance of the Banaras Gharana style for over a decade, focusing on Traditional Kathak with an emphasis on rhythms and footwork. She learned under the guidance of Master Ravi Shankar Mishra in Varanasi and Rachna Yadav in Delhi. Additionally, Shira is a professional vocalist of Indian classical music, studying in Delhi and the Netherlands, under Marianna Svasek, Ritwik Sanyal, and Nirmalya Dey. Today, Shira performs, creates, and teaches Indian classical singing and dance both in her country and abroad. She aspires to lead a life of creative contribution in her community.
