Music: Dmitri Shostakovich, Alfred Schnittke and others. The newest performance of the Jerusalem Ballet Company presents an adaptation of a novel from the Israeli classics. The ballet recreates the Zionist myth of the 1940s, a period of struggles between Jews and Arabs during the rule of the British Mandate in the Land of Israel. A love story between Mika- a holocaust survivor, a new immigrant from Poland, and Uri, the “ Saber”- the mythical kibbutznik. Moshe Shamir’s book was a resounding success as well as it’s adaptations for stage and cinema. Mika and Uri’s love story is considered one of the most moving and beautiful stories to appear on the Israeli stage.
