Why Things Go Wrong
Choreography: Sylva Šafková Artistic
Direction: Yoram Karmi
A dance creation by the promising Czech creator, Sylva Šafková. Why Things Go Wrong is a social-political piece full of nuance and irony, illustrating the main reason why so many things go wrong, both in our personal lives and as parts of human society with all its challenges.
“I have come to the conclusion that there are three main reasons why things go wrong: sometimes it’s just bad luck, and there’s not much that can be done about it. Other times, it can happen due to a wrong decision. But the main reason is—there’s always someone involved who is an asshole.
Assholes are the most common reason things go wrong in our society, and there are all kinds of assholes: a rude asshole, a condescending asshole, a presidential or political asshole, and so on… We can safely say: we are blessed here with a wide variety of assholes.”
“Expressiveness at its peak, Fresco skillfully delivers sharp social critique with both humor and gloom.” (Haaretz)
“Fresco, at times with restraint and at times with wildness, does what true art is meant to do – provoke thought.” (Maariv)
