Ronit Ziv | One out of one

“Hitting a person, touching him, pushing or exerting force on his body in any other way, directly or indirectly, without his consent or with the consent obtained in a mountain fraud, is an assault” (section 378 of the Penal Code, 1977)

Sections 378.379.380 of the Penal Code 1977, followed by sections of the 1991 Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, have been enshrined in law for decades. Still, violent injuries to the family and elsewhere are still going on. Where are they and what is the role of the circles that are supposed to provide protection (legislation, courts, police and more)? What is our role as a company? As human beings? As viewers and viewers of the show?

Choreography: Ronit Ziv

Dancers co-created: Ronit Ziv Ensemble

Artistic accompaniment: Anat Katz, Dr. Erez Maayan Shalev, Nava Zuckerman

“Ronit Ziv’s work is a cry for the need to change and update the rules … The physical body tells about the violence in the dynamics of excitement.” (Ruth Eshel, Dance Diaries)

 Ronit Ziv Ensemble

Founded by the choreographer and dancer Ronit Ziv. In May 2022, Ronit returned from Tulane University in New Orleans after she was a guest artist in residency with the Newcomb dance company. She taught technique classes and created a very exciting Dance Evening.

In her groundbreaking work, Ronit examines the transition from the everyday space to the stage, and how a written word and text translate into a physical image. In recent years she has focused on the issue of domestic violence.

Of her outstanding works: Say it Once (2017), (2018) Dance Award Winning Dance Award at the Fringe Center Dance Festival in Be’er Sheva, Like a Chicken (2020) – Video Art Against the Murder of Women Presented at a Local Testimony Exhibition, 380,379,378 (2021).

Ronit is a doctoral student in the Faculty of Arts, Department of Theater at Tel Aviv University under the supervision of Dr. Dror Harari. Ronit is the winner of the Rosenblum Award for Performing Arts for 2020. Winner of the Arditi Prize for Research and Intercultural Creation on behalf of Tel Aviv University for 2021. Ronit served as an artistic director, a co-curator and a lecturer in choreography in her master’s degree studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Dance and Music.
