During difficult times of war and uncertainty, engaging in art can often seem somehow disconnected from reality.
Naturally the mind wanders between extremes: is art a necessity, a source of meaning and power, or is it a redundant luxury?
Egor Menshikov found answers, inspiration, and motivation to create a new piece on the concept of “Anima Mundi”: “the world soul”.
According to many philosophers, everything in the universe is interconnected & influenced by each other.
Carl Jung connected this theory with art, claiming that creativity is an autonomous force that enables the artist to find his way to the essence of life, and capture glimpses of the world’s soul – “Who possesses the world but not its image possesses only half the world, since their soul is poor and has nothing. The wealth of the soul exists in images” (Carl Jung). GEM dance company returns with a new poetic piece by Egor Menshikov, the piece is accompanied by the musicians Romy Kopelman & Alon Renser who created an original adaptation of Phillip Glass’s music.
